We will practice each day Monday thru Thursday that we don't play.  Practices 
will generally be in the afternoon to allow those who are playing Football and 
basketball to participate in practice for those programs in the mornings.

AHSAA rules allow Grissom coaches to coach on 7 competitive dates during the 
summer.  The Mizuno tournament will not count towards those dates due to an 
agreement between the AHSAA and the Umpires association.  Portions of the Mizuno 
tournament will also be the state umpires camp, which is training for umpires 
from around the state.  For some of the dates this summer we will be bringing in 
outside coaches to allow our players to compete together during the summer while 
our Grissom coaches will be present but not coaching.

AHSAA rules permit Grissom players to compete together all summer long without 
restriction to the number of players on each team.  The only restriction is how 
many dates the high school coaches may coach a team.  However, the 50% rule 
applies to any team which competes during the school year outside of the high 
school season.

AHSAA rules allow unlimited practice time for high school programs.  Grissom 
Baseball will continue its policy of working with all other athletic programs at 
Grissom to ensure that players are able to attend as many activities for each 
athletic program as possible.  Please keep the coaching staff apprised of all 
potential conflicts.  COMMUNICATION is key during the summer.

NO GRISSOM BASEBALL ACTIVITIES

Game 40

4/12.  The Tigers travelled to Oxford to conclude their Area play for the year.  In game 1, Luke Harris started on the mound and was relieved by Zach Duncan, Rick Perez, and Jay Benner.  In the top of the first, Grissom took a 1-0 lead.  Adam Smith walked and Jake Christensen hit an RBI single to drive him in.  Oxford answered with 2 runs in the bottom half to take a 2-1 lead.  In the 2nd, GHS threatened again.  Brett Blailock led off with a single.  Then, Cameron Kilgore(running for Blailock) stole 2nd with no outs.  After an out, Bryan Plott hit a line drive to left center, but the center fielder made a nice catch and turned it into a double play.  Oxford answered with 5 runs in both the 2nd and 3rd to take a 12-1 lead.  In the 4th, Grissom added another run to cut it to 12-2.  Austin Weckwarth led off the inning with a long homerun to right field.  Oxford answered again with a run in the bottom half.  In the top of the 5th, Jesse Johnson was hit by a pitch and stole 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs.  Adam Smith singled him in to make the final score 13-3.  

Game 39

In the 2nd game, GHS sent Jake Christensen to the hill.  Oxford scored 7 runs in the bottom of the first to lead 7-0.  The score remained the same until the top of the 4th when Grissom mounted a threat.  With 2 outs, Brett Blailock and Ben Splawn both singled, and Adam Middleton was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Unfortunately, the Tigers couldn't push them across so the score remained 7-0.  In the bottom of the 4th, Oxford added a run on a couple of misplays to stretch it to 8-0.  In the bottom of the 5th, Oxford scored 2 unearned runs to make the final score 10-0.  Christensen went the distance and pitched really well after the 1st.  For the offense, Brett Blailock had 2 hits.
