Grissom surge past Albertville to sweep the series thanks to a big 6th inning.
The Tigers defeated the Aggies 7-0 on Saturday thanks in part to five runs in the sixth inning. Garrett Blacklock singled, scoring two runs, Charlie Cassingham tripled, scoring two runs, and Josh Burrell singled, scoring one run.
A sacrifice fly by Ayden Reed put Grissom on the board in the bottom of the first.
A sacrifice fly by Reed extended the the Tigers lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
Burrell earned the win for Grissom. The reliever allowed three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out six and walking none. Max Williams took the loss for the Aggies. The starting pitcher went four innings, allowing two runs on six hits, striking out two and walking two. Jackson Davis led things off on the hill for Tigers. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out none and walking none in his first appearance of the season following an arm injury.
Grissom tallied 12 hits in the game. Burrell went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits. Cassingham, Reed, and Blacklock each drove in two runs for Grissom. Cody Brothers and Greyson Madewell each collected multiple hits for the Tigers.
Next up for Grissom is a game at St. John Paul II on Tuesday.
