Game Update April 3, 2025 at Sparkman (AREA Game)
Powerful pitching performance from South Alabama commit Charlie Cassingham carries Grissom past Sparkman.
Charlie Cassingham struck out 10 batters as the starter led the Tigers past Sparkman 6-4 on Thursday. Cassingham gave up six hits and four runs over six and two-thirds innings while walking two.
Grissom opened the scoring in the first after Jarrett Brown singled, scoring two runs.
Sparkman jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when an error scored two runs, and Jack Wells singled, scoring one run.
Sparkman committed an error, which helped the Tigers tie the game at three in the top of the fifth.
Grissom took the lead in the top of the sixth. Zach Shipp doubled, scoring one run, to give the Tigers the advantage, 4-3.
Brown drove the middle of the lineup, leading Grissom with two runs batted in. The catcher went 1-for-4 on the day. Josh Burrell, Brown, Garrett Blacklock, Shipp, and Dalton Dardin each collected one hit for the Tigers. The Tigers turned one double play in the game.
Grissom welcome Sparkman on Saturday for a double header.
