Game Update April 5, 2025 at Sparkman (AREA Games)
Grissom fell 7-4 to Sparkman in game 1 on Saturday despite out-hitting them eight to four. Dalton Dardin led the Tigers with two hits.
Carter Edwards took the loss for Grissom. The starter went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs (five earned) on four hits, striking out three and walking five.
Dardin drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Tigers with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day.
The Tigers won big over Sparkman 10-3 in game 3 to take the series.
Sparkman were the first to get on the board in the first when Brenner VanDeWynckel singled, scoring one run.
Grissom took the lead in the bottom of the first. An error scored two runs, to give the Tigers the leg up, 2-1.
Sparkman jumped back into the lead in the top of the second inning after Tye Aguon grounded out, and Will Peccia grounded out, each scoring one run.
The Tigers took the lead, 6-3, in the bottom of the second thanks to singles by Josh Burrell, Dalton Dardin, and Garrett Blacklock.
Grissom added one run in the third. Sparkman committed an error, making the score 7-3.
Burrell earned the win for the Tigers. The starter surrendered six hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking one. Tyler Barrett took the loss for Sparkman. The hurler went two and one-third innings, surrendering seven runs (four earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking three.
Grissom collected 12 hits in the game. Burrell, Griffin Grigsby, Grayson Stroble, and Dardin each collected two hits for the Tigers. Burrell, Grigsby, and Stroble each drove in two runs for Grissom. Charlie Cassingham stole two bases. Grissom Varsity Tigers ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game. Grissom Varsity Tigers turned one double play in the game.
Grissom will travel to Albertville for Game 1 of a 3 game series.
