Blacklock’s big day propels Grissom past Albertville 15-3!!
Garrett Blacklock drove in four runs on one hit to lead Grissom past Albertville 15-3 on Saturday. Garrett Blacklock hit a home run to left field in the seventh inning, scoring three runs, and walked in the sixth inning, scoring one.
Albertville got on the board in the first inning after Baugh doubled, scoring one run.
Griffin Grigsby hit a sacrifice fly, which helped the Tigers tie the game at one in the top of the second.
A single by Dalton Dardin gave Grissom Varsity Tigers the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.
Grissom scored five runs on two hits in the top of the sixth inning. Garrett Blacklock drew a walk, scoring one run, Jarrett Brown was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Braydon Weaver grounded out, scoring one run, and Griffin Grigsby singled, scoring two runs.
Garrett Blacklock homered to left field, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh for the the Tigers.
Charlie Cassingham earned the win for Grissom. The starter allowed five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one, Knight took the loss for Albertville. The starting pitcher went four innings, surrendering six runs on six hits, striking out two and walking four.
Grissom tallied 12 hits in the game. Josh Burrell and Dalton Dardin were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for the Tigers while hitting back-to-back. Braydon Weaver collected two hits for Grissom in four at bats. The Tigers had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Josh Burrell and Griffin Grigsby led the team with two bases on balls each. Grissom were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Jarrett Brown made the most plays with 11.
Next up for the Tigers is Senior Day tomorrow, April 12, with a DH at home vs Albertville.
