Cassingham’s clutch hitting propels Grissom Varsity Tigers to victory over St. John Paul II.
Charlie Cassingham drove in five runs on three hits to lead Grissom Varsity Tigers past St. John Paul II 13-3 on Tuesday. Charlie Cassingham singled in the second scoring two, doubled in the fourth scoring two, and walked in the third scoring one. Grissom Varsity Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Grayson Stroble singled to left field, and Garrett Blacklock grounded into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run.
Grissom Varsity Tigers scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Charlie Cassingham singled scoring two runs, Josh Burrell drew a walk, scoring one run, and Garrett Blacklock singled, scoring two runs.
A walk by Charlie Cassingham, and a double by Dalton Dardin helped Grissom Varsity Tigers extend their early lead in the third.
Dalton Dardin earned the win for Grissom Varsity Tigers. The hurler surrendered one hit and two runs (zero earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two. Griffin Grigsby pitched one inning of shutout ball for Grissom Varsity Tigers in relief. The hurler surrendered zero hits, striking out none and walking none.
