Fifth-Inning Spurt Lead Grissom Varsity Tigers Past DeSoto Central Varsity Jaguars.

Grissom Varsity Tigers defeated DeSoto Central Varsity Jaguars 11-1 on Saturday thanks in part to eight runs in the fifth inning. Zach Shipp hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Cody Brothers singled, scoring one run, Grayson Stroble drew a walk, scoring one run, Gavin Lockhart induced Charlie Cassingham to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, Carter Edwards singled, scoring one run, Josh Burrell doubled, scoring two runs, and Dalton Dardin singled, scoring one run.
Stroble grounded out, which helped Grissom Varsity Tigers tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. A sacrifice fly by Garrett Blacklock gave Grissom Varsity Tigers the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the third.
Edwards earned the win for Grissom Varsity Tigers. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking none. Nathan O’Neal led things off on the hill for DeSoto Central Varsity Jaguars. The hurler surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out none and walking two.

Burrell, Cassingham, Brothers, Blacklock, Shipp, Stroble, Dardin, and Edwards each drove in one run for Grissom Varsity Tigers.
