Charlie Cassingham Has Lots Of Hits But Grissom Varsity Tigers Fall To Hueytown

Charlie Cassingham collected five hits in five at bats, but the Tigers lost to Hueytown 8-6 on Saturday. Cassingham singled in the first inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Grissom was right in it until Hueytown singled in the eighth inning.
Hueytown opened the scoring in the first after Ireeaza singled, scoring two runs.
The Tigers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 5-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a fielder’s choice by Josh Burrell that drove in one.
Hueytown took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Wilson grounded out, Syx laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Vaughan singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Garrett Blacklock doubled to left field, which helped Grissom tie the game at six in the bottom of the seventh.
Cassingham started the game for the Tigers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking three. Vaughan stepped on the mound first for Hueytown. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and five runs (zero earned) over six innings, striking out two and walking six.
Blacklock, the number eight hitter for Grissom , led the way with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Zach Shipp paced Grissom with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. The Tigers stole four bases in the game.
Next up for Grissom Varsity Tigers is a game against Randolph School on Monday in the Gulf Coast Classic for Spring Break.
