Grissom Baseball Weekly Recap – Week of 3/2-3/7
Monday – 3/2 vs Bob Jones (JV)

JV (GM1) – Grissom jumped out to an early lead scoring 2 in the 1st and 4 in the 2nd and would eventually take the win 10-1.
Rynzo Crutcher started on the mound for Grissom pitching 1 1/3 innings and striking out 2. Ty Sanderson came in relief pitching 3 2/3 innings allowing 0ER and striking out 2. Offensively, Grissom was led by Rynzo Crutcher who had 3 hits, Trevor Broome (2 hits), Ty Sanderson (2 hits).
JV (GM2) – Bob Jones would score 5 in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd, and 5 in the 4th to take a commanding lead.
Tucker McNairy started on the mound for Grissom pitching 2 innings and allowing 2ER. Offensively, Rynzo Crutcher had 2 hits for Grissom.
Tuesday – 3/3 vs Cullman
Varsity – Grissom 5, Cullman 10
JV – Grissom 1, Cullman 7
Varsity – Cullman scored 3 in the first to take an early lead. The Tigers answered back with 3 of their own in the 3rd inning. Grissom answered with 2 more in the 4th to take the lead before Cullman answered with a grand slam in the bottom of the 4th and would eventually win 10-5.
Wyatt Starnes led the Tigers on offence with 2 hits. Will Varmette started on the mound for Grissom pitching 3 innings allowing 4ER and striking out 4. Jack Bianca took the loss in relief.
JV – Cullman scored 5 runs in the 5th to pull away from the Tigers and eventually won 7-1. Gage Harmon and Logan Davis each had 2 hits for Grissom. Josh Hammonds started on the mound pitching 3 innings allowing 2ER and striking out 1. Cannon Raby took the loss in relief.
Wednesday – 3-4 vs Bob Jones
Varsity – Grissom 0, Bob Jones 13
JV – Grissom 4, Bob Jones 2
Varsity – Bob Jones scored 5 in the 1st inning thanks to 3 errors by Grissom. They would add 6 more in the 2nd due to 2 more Grissom errors and a Bob Jones HR.
Wyatt Starnes and Chris Lynam each had a hit for Grissom. Christian Sutphin started on the mound for Grissom and took the loss pitching 1 2/3 innings.
JV – The Tigers scored 3 in the 4th to take the win 4-2. Eli Kelly, Jackson Moore, Logan Davis and Cameron Hearn all had big hits for Grissom. Ian Lee got the win on the mound pitching 4 innings allowing 0ER and striking out 5.
Thursday – 3/5 vs Westminster
Varstity – Grissom 9, Westminster 2
Varsity – Grissom scored 1 in the 1st and 3 in the 2nd to take an early lead and would eventually pull away from Westminster.
John Allen Stogner started on the mound for Grissom pitching 5 innings allowing 2ER and striking out 13. Evan Steckmesser came in relief pitching 2 innings and striking out all 6 hitters he faced. Offensively, Grissom was led by Chandler Buss and Jack Carson who each had 2 hits.
Friday – 3/6 vs Westminster
Varsity – Grissom 10, Westminster 7
Varsity – Westminster jumped out with an early 3-0 lead thanks to some early walks by Grissom. Grissom answered with 4 in the 2nd and would eventually take the win.
Hunter Sullivan started on the mound for Grissom pitching 2 innings allowing 2ER and striking out 4. Rynzo Crutcher came in relief for Grissom and pitched 5 innings allowing no hits or runs and striking out 7. Grissom was lead offensively by Christian Sutphin who had 2 hits and 4RBI. Noah Lam also added 2 hits.
Saturday – 3/7 vs James Clemens
Varsity – Grissom 1, James Clemens 16
JV – Grissom 7, James Clemens 12
Freshman – Grissom 6, James Clemens 8
Varsity – James Clemens scored 3 in the 1st and 7 in the 3rd to take a commanding lead.
Jack Bianca started on the mound for Grissom pitching 2 innings allowing 4ER. Eli Worsham and Chandler Buss each had hits for Grissom.
JV – A big 5th inning by James Clemens fueled by Grissom errors allowed them to score 5 runs and take a commanding lead in the game.
Ty Sanderson pitched 5 innings allowing 0ER. Tore Foss, Trevor Broome, Ty Sanderson, Ian Lee, Jackson Moore, and Griffin Anderson all had hits for Grissom.
Freshman – James Clemens scored 4 in the 4th inning to take the lead over Grissom.
Blake Moon started on the mound for Grissom pitching 3 1/3 innings allowing 3ER and striking out 5. Hayden Zuidema, and Chuck Heath each had 2 hits for Grissom.
